so last night was pretty incredible. and fricken HOT! Thebby Theatre was sold out, plus it was a warm night. it was probably 40oC inside with a 100% humidity! but by gosh it was worth it. Mark Lanegan was the support and only on for 30mins, which really wasn’t enough for me, but it did set the tone for the night.
Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds are incredible. it’s been awhile since i’ve seen them and also this close. Ed Kuepper has now joined the band, replacing Mick Harvey, and as Lara pointed out, the Bad Seeds have a slightly different sound. but boy, are they tight!
song selection was fantastic. with a career as long as theirs, of course songs are going to be missed, but i was pretty stoked. four song at the beginning from Push The Sky away, including ‘my’ moment during Higgs Boson Blues.
NC walked over to me, hand outstretched, and grabbed my hand after Lara pushed me up to reach him. we locked fingers and he starts singing while looking at me; “Can you feel my heartbeat? Can you feel my heartbeat?“ that was me done. i’m out! hah! so funny! after the show, a couple of guys came up to me and one said, “we saw you holding hands with Nick, and wow, great lyrics to do that to!!”
aside from this just being an epic show, i had another couple of ‘moments’ at the gig. one was standing there, watching him and the band, watching what a showman/performer he is and thinking, ‘we get to claim him - he is Australian and a fucking genius’.
the other moment was while standing shoulder to shoulder, in a room, as mentioned above, that was hotter than hell, and getting goose bumps and chills as the band play The Mercy Seat to it glorious crescendo.

During his “We Saw Your Boobs” song Seth MacFarlane listed off women who’s breasts he’d seen in their movies. As if this isn’t grotesque enough four of the instances he listed were scenes of rape or the character was raped during the movie.
